Dr. Nadia Bala, DDS

A Southern California native, Dr. Nadia Bala is a highly accomplished Board Certified Pediatric Dentist. She also devotes her time outside of the office to teaching pediatric dental residents and works part-time as a clinical professor and lecturer at Rady Children’s Hospital, where she has taught for the last decade.
Dr. Nadia Bala completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, which is consistently ranked the #1 Dental school in the US, and it is also ranked the top five in the world according to QS World Rankings.
Dr. Nadia Bala and her family are proud University of Michigan Wolverines, as almost everyone in her family attended the University of Michigan. She is also grateful to have met her husband, Dr. Greg Allen at U of M.
After dental school, Dr. Nadia Bala and Dr. Greg Allen moved to San Diego to begin their dental careers. Dr. Nadia Bala worked for several years as an adult dentist in San Diego County where her passion for treating children and special-needs patients blossomed.
She then went forward to pursue advanced specialty training in pediatric dentistry, which included training in sedation dentistry, dental trauma care, and the treatment of medically compromised and special-needs patients. Afterward, she completed her pediatric specialty training as Chief Resident at Saint Barnabas Hospital, a level-one trauma center in New York City, and focused on special needs and medically compromised patients at the Rose F. Kennedy Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Center in New York.
Dr. Nadia Bala spends her time outside of her office at Rady Children's Hospital teaching dentists the latest techniques in pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Nadia Bala also teaches sedation dentistry along with the management of children who have more complex medical needs, such as cardiac abnormalities, craniofacial development disorders, and children who are undergoing chemotherapy.
She also is experienced and teaches dental management of children who have special needs such as autism spectrum disorder, cleft lip and palate, or other behavioral disorders.
Dr. Nadia Bala is happy to have taught many of the pediatric dentists in San Diego County. She has also lectured on pediatric dental techniques in New York and around the country. In her time outside the office, she also works with underserved children at the San Ysidro border where she helps manage dental infections and more complex dental cases.
Dr. Nadia Bala is known for her energetic passion for pediatric dentistry and has been known to work small miracles with more anxious children. As you can see, both of our doctors are not your typical pediatric dentists. They are among the top leaders in their field. Your child will be in great hands with our practice.
