Dr. Greg Allen was born and raised in Michigan where he met his wife Dr. Nadia Bala during the first day of dental school. He is a board-certified pediatric dental specialist and he is one of a handful of pediatric dentists who are qualified to teach Pediatric Dentistry at Rady Children's Hospital, where he has taught for almost a decade.
Dr. Greg Allen received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the #1 ranked school in the United States, The University of Michigan School of Dentistry. In addition to being consistently ranked #1 in the US, it is also ranked within the top 5 dental schools in the world, according to the QS World University Rankings.
After dental school, Dr. Greg Allen practiced in San Diego as a general dentist where he discovered his love for pediatric dentistry.
He continued his education by completing a General Practice Residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York City. During this residency, he received training in all phases of dentistry including hospital cases under general anesthesia, oral surgery, and rehabilitation of severe trauma cases.
He then went on to complete his Pediatric Dental Residency training at St. Barnabas Hospital where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Greg Allen received extensive and rigorous training at St. Barnabas Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center. He has also received the hospital’s top research award while in residency for his clinical research in public health. He received training in treating special needs and medically compromised children at the Rose F. Kennedy Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Center.
Dr. Greg Allen is among the most experienced and qualified pediatric dentists in San Diego County. At Rady Children’s Hospital, he teaches dentists the proper management of patients with craniofacial anomalies, including cleft lip/palate. He also teaches the management of patients with complex medical needs including children with cardiac abnormalities and children undergoing chemotherapy.
Dr. Allen is experienced in managing children with special needs, including patients with different syndromes, and those on the autism spectrum. He also teaches pediatric dental sedation safety at Rady Children’s Hospital and keeps newer dentists up to speed on the latest dental techniques.
Dr. Greg Allen dedicates the rest of his time to treating underserved children at San Ysidro Health and Indian Health Council, where he often sees more complex and severe dental cases.
